Magnolia Pictures sends DMCA subpoena to Google, YouTube

“…..This time it’s Magnolia Pictures, a film distributor owned by Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner, the billionaire co-founders of Broadcast.com. Magnolia released the Academy Award-nominated documentary Enron: Smartest Guys in the Room, which has a bad habit of appearing on video-sharing sites.

Hence the subpoena to Google, which a federal court in Texas issued on Tuesday. It asks for information on how to identify the person who uploaded three videos (two on Google Video and one on YouTube).

On YouTube, at least, the username of the uploader is “halifaxion,” who seems to focus on uploading video clips airing alternative explanations of what happened to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001…….” full article: News.com.com

Rat Says: Mark Cuban admits on O’Reilly that he is distributing the 9/11 film “Loose Change” in order to refute it. The mere fact Cuban’s name is anywhere near this project throws up huge red flags. Given the above article of Cuban going after YouTube patriot “Halifaxion,” whose videos this site has enjoyed consistently, it appears that Mark Cuban is a gatekeeper and his track record for wanting to control the message leaves no doubt as to his true agenda. The truth about 9/11 is coming out and the “Old Media” wants to make sure they decide who the guilty party is.

I was surprised last month, when Mark emailed this site in response to a comment I had left on his blog. I replied to his email and requested his blessings for me to print his email but never received an answer(I hope he doesn’t sue me). It reveals his true disdain for the freedom that YouTube offers us versus the same ole, same ole control of the oligarch media, controlled by 6 corporations.

EDIT: Below is the comment I posted to Mark’s blog, Snacks and Meals - The difference between Online Video and TV. Is it not odd that Mark censors the comment, yet replies to it via an email response? Mark is not about openess and free thought, he is about controlling the message. Will he go after other video bloggers like he has Halifaxion, who only want to get the truth out? People wake up, this guy is part of the oligarch media and his involvement in Loose Change is only to control who the guilty party is. Wonder which part of the comment got it censored? My guess is the reference to 6 corporations controlling the whole american media.

actually, you are the one that doesnt get it.

you search and HOPE you can find what you what.

then you HOPE you can get it when you want it.

then you deal with the fact that most of what y ou find is illegal,
making
you a criminal

then you deal with the fact that you have to watch it on a PC

then you deal with the fact that you have to go through the hassle of
trying to get the video from your pc to the HDTV you just bought

then you deal with the fact that its limited in length

then you deal with the fact that it takes hours or possibly days to
download

then youd eal with the fact that the quality is awful

yeah. you have it right

I turn on the TV, go through thousands of VOD or live choices, can set
my
DVR, or buy or rent the DVD when i want.
