Generation Debt: Who is to Blame?
Here is a segment from ”Geraldo at Large” about some young adults a few years removed from college and what life is like trying to get started in their careers with rather large debt. What this clip is not showing is that this is an epidemic and the banks have navigated, through their lobbyist and bought off politicians, to bring us to this “destination.”
“Who is to blame” is the question? The “take personal responsibility crowd” would lay all responsibility on the debtors. But what if the banks goal the whole time was to entrap these people into a life of financial slavery? Can we prove motive? Is there a smoking gun? Ask 100 people what M3 is and 99 will not know, much less have any idea why the government stopped releasing statistics on M3 (money supply) in spring of 06. These people have no idea the banks aren’t even loaning them real money!!! What we have here is a very arcane pyramid scheme and when the public finally becomes aware of it they will be destitute.
This is a clip from Geraldo so don’t get your hopes up that it is hard hitting. I am posting it hoping it may inspire some real investigative journalist to produce some hard hitting video. I predict there will be a “YouTube” battle between debtors and the banks in the not so distant future and we will hear the banks whine like never before. It is said that “tax freedom” day is in June, i.e. the first 5 months are spent working in order to pay Uncle Sammy. Now lets add in credit card interest, local taxes, gas taxes, retail taxes, etc. and now we’re looking at july or august.
There is a solution to this dynamic but it is quite far off. What we need is for the banks to feel the pain of their lack of responsibility. Investing is a risky business and requires due diligence. The banks have made a choice to lend irresponsibly and now they need to reap what they have sown. Small claims courts have seen a huge rise in financial institutions pursuing consumers in this domain that were originally intended to be the “people’s courts.” These institutions are burdening the courts and need to be redirected. We need banking reform that takes away the “aggressive” tools that the banks are now currently employing in their debt collection strategies. People need to wake up and realize that this is not happening out of coincidence, but is a well calculated plan being carried out to the detriment of the american public.
